Proper Candle Use and Safety
Please Follow These Guidelines for Safe and Optimum Candle Burning
Before Lighting
Trim the Wick
Our candles come pre-trimmed by hand so they are ready for their first burn. Always make certain to trim the wick to 1/4 of an inch before each and every burn. This will reduce smoke and high flames while allowing the wax to melt at a steady and even pace.
Remove any Debris
Remove any wick trimmings or debris from the wax surface before each burn to prevent any additional fire hazards.
Perfect Placement
Always burn your candle on a stable, flat, heat resistant surface with a one foot safety circumference around the candle free of curtains, bedding, or decorations. Keep candles away from windows, drafts, or vents to prevent uneven burning and dangerous flames. Always keep candles away from children and pets.
While Burning
The First Burn Matters
Please wait until you have time to let the candle burn a little while for the first burn to allow the wax to melt fully to the edges of the vessel. This will prevent tunneling and increase your candle's overall burn time. Limit each burn time to no more than three to four (3-4) hours at a time.
Leave It Alone and In Sight
Once you light your candle in a safe location, do not move it. Never move a candle while the wax is hot or in liquid form of any sort. Always remain vigilant of a lit candle and do not leave one unattended at any time.
Extinguishing Your Candle
Snuff It Out
Using a candle snuffer is the safest way to extinguish your candle and prevent wax from splashing. If you do not have a candle snuffer, gently blowing out the flame with your breath will suffice. Never use water to extinguish a candle as it may cause hot wax to splash, glass containers to break and create smoke. Always make sure the candle flame is completely out and not glowing.
Stop Burning
Discontinue use of candle when 1/2" (one-half inch) to 1/4" (one-fourth inch) of wax is remaining in the jar. Clean out the wax to recycle or reuse the jar.
Aftercare
Cool Down
Always allow your candle to fully cool down until the wax is fully hardened again before moving the candle or trimming the wick.
Cover
Replace the lid or dustcover to the candle once the wax is fully cooled and in solid form to prevent dust buildup.
Storage
Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct heat or sunlight.
